# 18 Go to a festival

It's been several years since I went to a festival so I was determined to include one on my 40@40 list. We also thought it would be fun to try out festival-going as a family so when I heard that tickets were going on sale for Carfest, the festival Chris Evans organises in aid of Children in Need, I didn't waste time getting online. Tickets sell out quickly for Carfest but luckily I was able to get tickets for the Sunday (2nd August) at Carfest North at Oulton Park, Cheshire.

We travelled up the day before and stayed overnight in a Premier Inn (nice) in Crewe (not nice), getting up bright and early the next morning ready for our festival day. We arrived before it opened and had no trouble parking.

Carfest turned out to be a great choice of festival. There was lots to see and do and it was a really well-organised, family-friendly event. There were lots of different things to see and do, the food choices were really good and even the loos were ok (I've certainly seen a lot worse!). Even though it was a long day E&T did really well and we made it right to the end.

Here's some of the fun stuff we saw....

Bike Stunts

Dancing JCBs

The Red Barrows!

Big helicopters

Lots of cars on the race track

This is Chris Evans in one of his super-cars

Including a (the?) DeLorean!!

The loos weren't actually too bad

We reeeally wanted those churros!

We ended the day with some music, including an Abba tribute band and Will Young

And a finale of fireworks

We all had lots of fun and we love to go to another festival again some day, maybe even trying out a weekend of camping onsite.
